The child in me wants me to smile more often
Not just to acquaintances but also to strangers
For contagious is that smile, leaves everyone smitten
Be it mischievous, be it charming, the more you spread, the more it reappears
The child in me wants me to talk so much more
Share the minutest details of how my day transpired
Speak about the ups and downs, the highs and lows, of all the challenges my mind bore
Cherish those happy moments and let go of that baggage undesired
The child in me wants me to be bewitched by nature
Climb those mountains high and touch the sky
On a rainy day sail the paper boats down the muddy bay
Those gusty waves, the calming breeze, the photogenic sunset I want to capture
The child in me wants me to be more playful
Thrilled by the swings and the roller coaster rides
Building those sand castles only to be swept by the heavy tides
Gazing at the fountain in the park, aimless yet so mindful
The child in me wants me to live a bit more
For age is just a number and it will always grow
The heart is the place where the child thrives
Be it stress, be it fear, be it fatigue, be it sorrow, never to be bogged down by these feelings galore,
For the child in me will always be alive
