My pockets are dry, my balance is low

Running empty are all my wallets

Wish I could hit upon a treasure trove

How can I? Am I not just an employee in a corporate?

More than the weekends, I eagerly await this day

Bills and EMIs are waking from the slumber

Triggered would be the auto debit, do I have any say?

The pay cheque is my lifeline, however meagre in number

Salaried class we are, is there anything for us in this year’s budget?

They say slog fourteen hours, for you are just white collared labour

The average middle class, are we just puppets?

The ask for a better quality of life, is it any kind of a favour?

The d-day has arrived, the pay cheque I will get, with 30% less

Let me settle the bills, and be taxed on the balance I invest

Everything I buy I just pay additional tax and cess

How do I save myself from being taxed still remains a quest

Most awaited day still is the pehli tarikh, the SMS of the deposit still brings out the smile

Transactions for the month will be managed, let me relax for a while
