I know mom, how much you care for me

From sunrise to sunset how much you toil for me

I know mom, how much you love me

No matter what, my happiness you guarantee

I know mom, the competence you presume for me

My learning curve is way too long, but you never give up on me

I know mom, you put up the prettiest smile on your face

Even on the toughest days you act with so much grace

I know mom, there are days when I drive you crazy

Handling my sticky rituals, on days that are super busy

I know mom, at times I can scare you

When my anger overtakes me, I know what you go through

I know mom, with me by your side, life for you is no cakewalk

Those dreams that you gave up, the sacrifices, of which you never talk

I know mom, how much my silence shatters you

Your desire to hear me call you mom, do you think I never knew

I know mom, how helpless at times you do feel

Trying to calm the inconsolable me, do you think I do not see the pain your tears reveal

I know mom, how tired you are

Those sleepless nights you are by side, when I see the worst nightmare

I know mom, how much you fear for me

The fear in your eyes of “what after me”, do you think I cannot see

I know mom, how you always stand up for me

For my respect and dignity, do you think your hustle I cannot see

Do you know mom, what is my worst fear?

The fear of losing you forever
