Innocent was the bond formed with schoolmates

Over shared benches, recess fights, high school grades

The very first friends, who are with you till this date

They are the ones who know all your shades  

College was the time, nonlinear was the bond

Over bunked classes, first time crushes, copied assignments 

Only a few resonated with your sound

They are the ones who know what's on your mind, even though you remain silent 

At work place, you think, this is not a place to bond

Over office politics, missed deadlines, dreaded layoffs

Between competing and supporting, a special one is found

They are the ones who will not give up on you, even though you are quite way off

The bond that is selfless

The bond that is egoless

The bond that is ageless

The bond that is timeless

The bond that doesn’t constrain

The bond that doesn’t restrain

The bond that doesn’t suppress

The bond that doesn’t regress

The bond that is sustaining

The bond that is encouraging

The bond that is forgiving

The bond that is accepting

Your sounding board, your secret vault

Your cheerleader, your go to person by default  

Your partner in crime, your comforting quilt

Your patient listener, your venting place when you are in guilt

Cherish and celebrate those, with whom you share this bond special

Care for them and dare not lose them in your daily hustle
