Are only rich lives valuable?

They came to the city, with just some dreams

To make a living, fate had other plans it seems

Returning from work after a hard night shift, all they craved for was a bit of a rest

Out of nowhere a storm just appeared, in a pool of blood they both were left

Lifeless as they lay, two young lives

Destroyed by a reckless rich brat’s vice

The killer just walked upright

No one cared about the deceased parents plight

They said he is just a kid, did he have a license to kill?

Rich and powerful he is, are all the legal procedures just a drill?

For the common man that we are, tax paying, god fearing, our business we only mind

Is law and justice a mockery of some kind?

How long will we fight for, days, weeks or maybe a month or so

Time heals all wounds they say, will we let the culprit go?

Let us stand up and make our voices heard

Commuting on the road no other Ashwini or Anish should dread

P.S. - Not all events described are factual
